

She is survived by her husband, Jack; a daughter, JoAnna Merchant (Glen); grandsons, Jay, Noah, Dean, and Graham; her sister, Janet; plus lots of loving cousins, an aunt, and an uncle.
Pat was preceded in death by her son, Jay; a brother, Alfred, Jr.; and her parents, Alfred, Sr. and Ruby Stovall.
She loved her family and took pride in their accomplishments.
Pat was born in Sheffield, Alabama in 1947 and grew up in Athens, Alabama and eventually Decatur, Alabama. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1965 and went to every class reunion until she became too ill to attend. She attended University Hospital School of Nursing, and upon graduation, she attended the University of Alabama and earned her Bachelor of Nursing Degree. She graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in June 1970 in the first graduating class from the newly autonomous campus.
Pat was a nurse for over 30 years and worked in hospitals in Columbus, Mississippi, Denver, Colorado, Decatur, Alabama, and Birmingham. She enjoyed being a nurse and loved her patients.
Pat was a member of South Highland Presbyterian Church, where she sang alto in the choir and played in the bell choir. She also sang in the Birmingham Choral Guild and the Highlands United Methodist Choir. She was a Christian lady and led by example. Her family and her many friends will miss her.

The family will greet friends from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by A Service of Remembrance for Pat at 4 p.m. at the funeral home's chapel. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Dr. Ed Hurley and Rev. Brian Erickson will officiate.
