Born in Lawton, Oklahoma on November 15, 1920,
to William Oliver Pierce and Della Grossman Pierce, Pearl was the eighth of twelve children and the last
surviving.
Pearl, a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was married to Edward Desautel
for sixty years. During that time the couple and their children traveled to various states and countries
with the United States Army, from which he retired. For many years she was an active member of
Central Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. For the last twelve years, she has lived in the Birmingham
area and was a member of Oak Mountain Baptist Church, Pelham, Alabama.
Pearl is survived by three of her four children: Nancy Thomas of Denver Colorado, Jeanne Foster of
Pelham, and David Desautel of Norman, Oklahoma; and by eight of her nine grandchildren: Amanda
Branson of Denver Colorado; Matthew Foster of Homewood, Alabama; Rachel Stutzman of Chicago
Illinois; Susan Foster Of Alabaster, Alabama; Andrew Stutzman of South Bend, Indiana; Joanna Stutzman of South Bend Indiana; Elise Desautel of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Corinne Hansen of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her daughter, Paula Stutzman, and her grandson,
Samuel Foster.
A service to celebrate Pearl's life will be held at Oak Mountain Baptist Church, Pelham, on Sunday,
November 18 at 2 p.m. with interment immediately afterward at the Oak Mountain Baptist Church
Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1:30 till service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Steven Como, Cameron Foster, Matthew Foster, William Foster, Eric Phillips, and Danny Holcomb.
Services will be conducted by Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Pelham, Alabama.
