Leigh, Peggy Ballard, 82, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 with her family by her side in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born January 1, 1931 to parents Diah Hodo Ballard and Pearle Elizabeth Perkins Ballard. She grew up in Columbus, Mississippi and graduated from Lee High School. Peggy worked for UAB Pediatric Cardiology for over 30 years and was life long member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mr. George C. Leigh Jr. She is survived by her brother Harley (Libby) Westbrook and sister Merline Burns, children Mike (Mary) Leigh, Dianne (Mike) Cullinan, Scott (Angela) Leigh Sr, Susan (Jim) Thorington, grandchildren Kelley Gomez, Christy (Brad) Leigh Griffin, Shannon (Chris) Majors, Scott Leigh Jr, Hunter Thorington, Amy Thorington, Julie Thorington and her five great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 17, 2013 for visitation from 1:00-3:00 and service at 3:00pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama.
