Peggy H. Sanders

Peggy Ann Hise Sanders, 67, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, Sept 29, 2012, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. A wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend and “Grammy”, she will be forever loved and missed, but is at peace now in her heavenly home after a 4-year battle with cancer. Peggy is preceded in death by her father William Lee Hise; mother Willie Katherine Fowler; and brother Charles Leon Hise, all of Chickamauga, Georgia. She is survived by her husband of 44 years Ralph Sanders; son Wiley Sanders (Kim); daughter Melissa Key (Mike); grandchildren Jacob Taylor Crane, Katherine Drew Sanders, Madison Michelle Goodwin and Derek Shane Key, all of Birmingham. She is also survived by sisters Shirley Brock (Bo), Martha Carroll, and Nancy Fowler (Shelton); and sister-in-law Regina Hixon, all of Georgia. “Aunt Peggy” leaves behind 38 precious nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends of all ages. There was “always room for one more” at Grammy’s house. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the St. Vincent’s Birmingham Bruno Cancer Center Memorial Fund in her memory. The family will receive visitors on Wed, Oct 3rd from 5pm to 8pm Central time followed by a funeral service on Thurs, Oct 4th at 11am Central time at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, Alabama.
