

Philip was born January 7, 1976, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Willard F. and Barbara Phillips Davis. He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1994. He attended Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. He received his Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama in 2000 and his Masters degree from Faulkner State College in 2005. He graduated from the Alabama Criminal Justice Training Center in 1998. While attending the University of Alabama he worked as a certified Pharmacy Technician at Parkview Drugs in Tuscaloosa. He began his career in law enforcement with the University of Alabama Police Department and served on the Calera Police Department before joining the Pelham Police Department in 2005. He was a Field Training Officer and an Evidence Technician for the City of Pelham. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police as well as the Police Benevolent Association. Philip held numerous, advanced instructor certifications and used those certifications to train his fellow officers. Philip also taught classes in Criminal Justice at Herzing College and ITT Institute.He was a member of the Riverchase Church of Christ and was a long time member of Central Church of Christ in Tuscaloosa. Philip was a loyal Alabama and Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. He loved his family and was a devoted father. He played the trumpet and loved music, traveling, and reading. Philip is survived by his loving wife, Paula Reeves Davis and his two beautiful children, Sarah Katelyn and John Archimedes; his mother, Barbara Davis; his in-laws, Don and Faye Reeves; his brothers Michael (Vickie) Davis and Conner (Amy) Davis; a sister, Rachel (John) Gould ; a niece and four nephews; his sister’s in-law; Susan (Mario) Moncada, and Joy (Robby) Bryson , and niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard F. Davis. Pallbearers will be his fellow police officers: from the Pelham Police Department; Sergeant Paul Taylor Pritchard Jr., Sergeant Eddie Carter, Officer Bob Howard, Officer Lloyd. J. Morrissette, Officer Scott Duffey and from the Calera Police Department Mike Mehlhoff.Honorary pallbearers will be his extended family members; dear friends Lance Hathorne, Juanita Watkins, Michael Terry, Wyeth Wright, Hansel Stewart, Danny Nunnely; Officer Devin Gilkerson; Officer Rob Getts; Officer Charles Bradley; Officer Michael McGee; Officer Jason Vandiver; Officer Jason Doyal; Officer James Campbell; members of Central Church of Christ; members of Riverchase Church of Christ; The University of Alabama Police Department; Calera Police Department; Pelham Police Department; and fellow law enforcement officers throughout the country.
