He was born in Oakman, Alabama to the late V.R. and Bernice Davis. Ray was a 1952 graduate of Auburn University and worked as a contractor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Erlene Davis; and his brothers, James Davis and Thomas Davis.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Stephen R. Davis; Emily D. Sledge (Frank); Walker H. Davis (Denise); and Philip W. Davis (Gena); his grandchildren, Heather Partain; Benjamin Sledge; Douglas Sledge; Daniel Sledge; Laura Sledge; Christopher Davis; Craig Davis; Clint Davis; Patrick Davis; and Payton Davis; along with 12 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home & Cemetery on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 pm with a graveside service following at 2:30 pm.
