Becky's family and friends will celebrate her life when they gather from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama.
Becky was born at Bessemer Hospital on September 9, 1949. She grew up in Hueytown, Alabama where she graduated from Hueytown High School in 1967. After high school she began a successful, 36-year career in banking, working at SouthTrust Bank, Compass Bank, AmSouth Bank, and Regions Bank.
During the 1970’s while at SouthTrust, Becky was the person responsible for restocking the Birmingham, Alabama area ATM’s with money on the weekends. She was the only person brave enough to do it. She graduated from Jefferson State Community College with her Associate Degree in Finance before she earned her Bachelor Degree in Finance from Birmingham-Southern College.
While at BSC, Becky was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She also was a member of the Spain Rehab Womens Committee and helped Governor George Wallace during his stay there.
Becky viewed herself as a true Virgo: hardworking, striving for perfection, practical, sensible, and loyal. She enjoyed Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts coffee, a good western, holidays, corn dogs, thrifting, couponing, doing crossword puzzles, word scrambles and word searches, and going to craft shows. She was an avid reader with a fondness for James Patterson and Noah Sparks.
Becky loved animals and at various times had dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and ducks. In her younger years, she played softball, bowled, made ceramics, and cross stitched. If there was ever anything to be collected, Becky probably had it.
Becky’s two favorite things in life were being a mother to her one and only daughter, Jesslyn, and being Grammommy to her beloved grandson, August. She did everything with the two of them.
Left to cherish her and keep her memory alive are her daughter, Jesslyn and husband Nathan; grandson, August; mother, Leneta; big sister, Pam and husband Greg; little brother, Damon; two nieces, Jimmie and Kari; two nephews, Kelly and Damon; lifelong friends, Connie and Linda; cat, Bea; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
Welcoming her on the other side are her baby son, Jarod; her father, David W. Segars; grandmothers, Gracemother and Granny Segars; grandfathers, Hermpaw, Grandpa Segars, and Snowbill; cousins, Jimmy and Sybil; dear friends, Darlene and Nelda; fur baby, Shih tzu Suzie Wong; and a crowd of other loved ones.
