Reuben Keith Swinford

Keith was born and raised in the Lipscomb community of Birmingham. He was the beloved child of Reuben and Jean Swinford. Keith graduated from Hueytown High School and attended the University of Montevallo. He went on to build a fulfilling career in Systems Management at AT&T for 40 years.

Keith was a person of many passions. He was known for his genuine spirit, heartfelt storytelling and loving nature. His love of music fueled many creative endeavors throughout his life. A lifelong Auburn fan, football was king in the fall. Above all, Keith cherished time spent with family and friends.

Keith is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; children, Rachel (Kevin), Leah Swinford; grandchildren, Corbin and Cora; mother, Jean Swinford, and sister, Terri Courington. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Keith was preceded in death by his father, Reuben Earl Swinford, and son, Joel Reuben Swinford.

Service Information

A celebration of Keith's life will be held on Thursday, July 9 at 12 noon at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, located at 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL . Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon.

Memorial Donations

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Keith’s memory to World Central Kitchens or the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama
