Mr. Bennett was born on September 30, 1938 in Arab, Alabama, but his family moved to Birmingham, Alabama soon afterwards. He married Jeanelle Riggins in 1964.
Soon after the Korean War ended, Mr. Bennett entered the U.S. Army and served in South Korea until his release. He worked as a hardware pro for many years, and retired from Lowes.
Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jewel Bennett. He is survived by his wife, Jeanelle; sons, Patrick (Leigh) and Chad (Brittany); three grandchildren, Abigail, Lance and Merci, whom he loved dearly; three brothers, Russell (Betty), Dennis (Treasia), and Terry; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration Service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, October 19, 2018 at The Church of the Highlands Greystone Campus. The family will visit with friends at the church following the service. Earlier that day, a private family service and interment will be at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
