I can't recall a time when I didn't see a grin on his face and a hand ready to help. Richard was truly a special and kind  human being with a glint in his eye and laughter that warmed the soul and filled the room.    He will be missed.  My heart goes out to you Joanne and to his family.

 I had the pleasure of working right alongside Richard for 3 years at Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla, CA. He loved construction. We had a few  disagreements over those three years, but Richard was always a gentleman after the dust settled. Many times he and his lovely wife Joanne gave me a ride up to my car in the evenings, and during those trips, I could see that Joanne was the love of his life. She calmed him down. We ( your friends at Kitchell]  will certainly miss you Richard.

Richard was part of a great family that welcomed my family to Houston. Uncle Ted and Aunt Char shared many things with us as we became part of the Texas community, including a garage apartment at their home, a Cadillac or two, and many Thanksgiving dinners. My husband and I became reacquainted with Richard and Joanne when we visited in California, caught a family reunion there, too, then stayed with them for a Husker Cotton Bowl game. His delight was to take us all on a community-wide trek through fabulous Christmas decorations in Plano. We will always remember his smile and sense of humor. Our love to Joanne and all my cousins, his brothers and sisters.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joanne and family as we fondly remember Richard and pray for the peace of our Lord  to embrace you all.

Richard was such a devoted, loyal and giving person. Patient and caring. What a sense of humor! What stories he could tell and in such detail!  We shared many of them, and many prayers. He was so appreciative.  His bear hugs conveyed that memorably.

Our prayers are with Joanne that every moment going forward the Lord makes His presence felt - "For I will never leave you or forsake you"  (Heb 13:5)!

I am so sorry Richard passed away. He was such a great guy with his constant smiles, Aggie jokes, pranks and general good nature. He played several roles in my life as a colleague, friend, and groomsman at our wedding. I am so glad that I was able to talk with him on the phone a few times in the last 12 months. He was a real soldier in his effort to beat his condition and a true Christian in approach to life. If there are motorcycles in heaven, Richard will be riding one. You will be in my prayers and I'll be watching the clouds for the rider in the sky.

Richard always seemed "up", smiling and ignoring his own recent pain.  He was one of the cousins everyone wanted to see.  We have very fond memories of Richard as we are lucky to be part of his family.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Richard graduated with me from Memorial High School in 1967, and we sure missed seeing him at our 50th reunion.  He was an exceptional gentleman and will be missed.
