He was born on May 24, 1954 in Birmingham, AL to the late Doris and Albert Mixon. Richard is a graduate of Berry High School and Bessemer Tech. He retired from Jefferson County ESD and was a member of Bluff Park Methodist Church. Richard was a loving husband and father who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory is his adoring wife of 45 years, Linda S. Mixon; two daughters, Rachel Mixon, and Melinda Nichols (Elliot); granddaughter, Anna Nichols; and his sister, Gail M. Lowery (Robert).
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with a graveside service beginning at 11:00 am at Southern Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be made in Richard's name to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society www.gbhs.org
