Riley Walden Scruggs, 27 of Birmingham, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Riley was a gifted soul – born with the ability to create beautiful art, play music, and to carry a football. He was thoughtful and intelligent; able to look at circumstances with unique perspectives. Smiley Riley will be remembered for the way his smile lit up a room. He loved his family dearly and will be sorely missed. We are grateful to God and give Him the glory for the six month glimpse He gave us of a free and healed Riley. God has rescued Riley from the bondages of this world and taken Riley to be with Him in Heaven forever.
Riley is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lt. Col. Frank P. Scruggs, Jr. and Calvin C. Crow. He is survived by his parents, Dale P. and Jan C. Scruggs; brother, John P. Scruggs (Bobbi H.); sister, Julietta V. Scruggs; niece, Charlotte A. Scruggs and nephew, Jacob P. Scruggs.
A memorial service for Riley was at 2pm on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, with a visitation beginning at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alabama Teen Challenge.
