He was born in Simpson County, Mississippi, on December 23, 1930, to the late Margaret and J.D. Dumas. Mr. Dumas was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Dumas, who passed away in June of 2015 after 60 years of marriage.
Mr. Dumas graduated from Mississippi State University with an Engineering degree and worked at U.S. Steel for 28 years until his retirement in 1985. He is a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Linda D. Mooney; Sherrie LeMier Potts (Al); and Robert David Dumas (Pam), all of Birmingham, AL.; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, Betty Neely of Braxton, MS and Mary Henderson of Suffolk, VA.
Graveside services will be on Friday, March 26, 2021, at 10:00 am, at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama. The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org
