Roger was a graduate of Vincent High School and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He proudly served in the United States Army for six years. After his military service, he worked for NAPA Auto Parts. He married Debbie Mathis on January 5, 1966, and together they were blessed with three children.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Roger Ferrell Swiney, Jr.; his daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Swiney; and his brother, Donald Swiney.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Swiney; daughter, Rhonda Jean Trott (Raymond); sister, Sandra Cooper; grandchildren, Amanda Rae Trott (Warren), Raymond Trott III, Ashlee Jean Lurgio (Joe), and Anna Catherine Eacmen (Nick); great-grandchildren, Ruby Rosato, Matilda Rosato, Rowan Lurgio, Foster Lurgio, Carter Lurgio, and Jack Eacmen; and a host of coworkers and friends.
Visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on November 24, 2025, from 10:30–11:30 a.m. A service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with military honors.
