Sandra (Sandi) Kaye Gillum, 61, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026. She was born in Decatur, Alabama on March 18, 1965 to the late Charles Brooks Dodson and Wanda Gayle Welborn Dodson.
After her graduation from Austin High School in Decatur, Sandi earned her undergraduate degree in Graphic Art from the University of North Alabama. After working as a graphic artist for many years with Long’s Electronics and PMG Marketing, she started and operated her own successful business, SDG Graphic Design.
In her leisure, Sandi enjoyed activities with her daughter Emily, doing arts and crafts, listening to music, playing phone games, watching Alabama Crimson Tide football and hanging out and visiting with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Sandi was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Renea Dodson. Sandi is survived by her husband of 29 years, Jack B. Gillum, Jr., and her daughter, Emily Brooks Gillum.
The family will greet friends at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Friday, October 2, 2026 from 12 noon to 1 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage. Pastor Garry Brantley will officiate.
