Sherry was preceded in death by her parents David and Sarah (Rhoda) Winters. She is survived by her husband, Wayne; her three children, her beloved daughter Julie Corley (Glenn), Brett Barnett (Abbie) and Melanie Thompson (Alan); sister, Cindy Smith; grandchildren Harrison and Hudson Wood, Maria and Tyler Barnett, Alyssa Corchis (Jordin), Alex Halfacre (Nick) and Abbi Gazzini (Ben), great-grandsons William and Henry and her niece and nephews Bryan Woods, Joe Smith and Kara Smith. She is also survived by many, many dear friends.
Sherry was born November 17, 1949. She graduated from Minor High School in 1968 where she led the cheerleading squad. Classmates remember her fondly for her kindness and infectious smile. After high school, Sherry worked for several companies and found her every day passion working at Shelby Dermatology. She loved the doctors and her co-workers, but most importantly she poured her heart into the patients she served every day.
Sherry was a caregiver with a servant's heart and never missed an opportunity to help and serve others. Her life revolves around her family and friends. She also had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, surrounded by her family on many fun vacations or just weekends at the lake. It was always the times she had her loved ones at her side that she enjoyed the most.
Sherry entered heaven's gate hearing “Well done, good and faithful servant”. It is the memories of a life loved well that we carry in our hearts to sustain us until we meet again.
Visitation will be held at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 5:00 pm.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to Dementia Society of America:
