Shirley Smith Misenhimer

Shirley Smith Misenhimer, 93, of Montevallo, AL passed away at home on February 9, 2025. She was born in Birmingham, AL at home. She was married to Paul B. Misenhimer for 43 years until his death in 2000. She worked in Admissions at BMC Montclair for 25 years. She was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church since 1971 and worked diligently behind the scenes supporting youth and preparing meals, and was an active member of the United Methodist Women, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs - Alabama Chapter, and the Coterie Club. Since 1960 she loved spending time at Lake Shechi and, with Paul in 1994, built a home and served as Association secretary for many years. She was a genuine, easygoing person that loved games and puzzles and didn’t waste time worrying.

She is survived by daughters, Kay Murphy (Terry), Sherry Brewer (Pate), and Judy Scott (George); grandchildren, Elizabeth Guarnieri (Dan), Christopher Luehmann (Mandy), Sydney Smith, Anna Khanduja (Prakhar), Tyler Murphy (Brittany), Hampton Brewer (Nozomi), Wesley Brewer (Cassidy), Addison Davis (Ben), and Jacob Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Harrison Brewer, Cooper Ann Smith, William Luehmann, Coen Brewer, Hamp Brewer, Maddie Murphy, Roshni Khanduja and baby boy Brewer expected in April; and brother, Morton Smith (Peggy), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124, followed by a memorial service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
