Shirley was an active member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church, where she regularly attended with her beloved husband, Herman.
Survivors include Shirley's daughter, Sharon Higbee (Edd) of Battle Creek, MI; her sisters, Lurline Rutland and Marie Benson of Birmingham; her brother, George Benson of Cullman, AL; four grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jessie Herman Smith; her son, Ronald Terry Smith, Sr; and a grandson, Ronald Terry Smith, Jr.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL, immediately followed by the 11 a.m. funeral service in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. After the graveside committal service at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham, the family will continue to visit with friends at a special reception at the funeral home Tuesday.
