Susan Houghton of Chelsea, Alabama, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026. She was 81.
Susan was born August 12, 1945 in Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham, England. She married David Houghton on February 16, 1968, and in 1983, they emigrated to the United States, making their home over the years in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the Birmingham, Alabama, area.
Susan enjoyed her professional career as a travel agent, working for both EBSCO Industries and Adventure Travel. Her love of travel was also an important part of her personal life, and she especially enjoyed traveling with David. At home in Alabama, her favorite pastimes included gardening and cooking.
Susan is survived by her son, Michael Houghton; daughter-in-law, Alexandra Houghton; and brother, Vincent Temple.
