OBITUARY

Suzanne Davis

February 16, 1952 – November 22, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Southern Heritage Funeral Home & Cemetery

Suzanne McMillan Davis, 73, of Taylors, South Carolina, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, November 22, 2025. A born-again Christian, we rejoice that she is now in the Savior’s presence.

Sue was born on February 16, 1952 to Kay Jeanine (Patterson) Maricle and Danny Ronald McMillan in Cottage Grove, Oregon. After spending most of her childhood in Oregon, she graduated from Seattle Pacific College in 1974 with a bachelor of science in nursing, and later earned a master of science in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

She proudly spent her professional career in nursing education and management. She worked on the hospital floor, taught and directed nursing programs at community colleges throughout the country, and wrote and edited clinical textbooks. Encouraging and equipping over 2,000 nurses to make a difference in the lives of their patients brought her immense joy.

Outside of work, Sue most enjoyed traveling to the Oregon Coast, spoiling and bragging on her daughter and grandkids, cross stitching, playing hymns on the piano, working jigsaw puzzles, celebrating others with flowers and balloons, and laughing hysterically with her mom and best friend, Kay. A three-time cancer survivor, Sue was fierce and determined. She was loyal and advocated for any person, animal or cause she believed in.

Sue is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joe, daughter Sydney (Chris) Talley, grandson Joseph Talley and granddaughter Caroline Talley, mother Kay, brother Eric (Christina) McMillan, father-in-law J. Homer Davis, Jr., and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Danny McMillan, stepfather Will Maricle, brother David McMillan, and mother-in-law Glenda Davis.

Her life will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 2 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC. The visitation will be at 10:00am Eastern time and a memorial service will begin at 11:00am Eastern.

A graveside service will take place at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama on Saturday, December 20, at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in her memory to the American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org) so that others may have every opportunity to live cancer-free.
