Tillman Barnett Flournoy, better known as “Dick”, was released to his Heavenly rest on May 24, 2019. Dick was born on March 27, 1927, the fourth born son of Robert Wilson Flournoy Sr. and Vivian Browning Flournoy. He was born and raised in the West End community of Birmingham, Alabama.
After graduation from West End High School, Dick served his country in the United States Army for 17 months. Immediately following his honorable discharge from the Army, Dick enrolled in Auburn University where he earned a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following college, Dick and his new bride, Mary Frances Hickman of Phenix City, Alabama, moved to Birmingham where he began a 37-year career with AT&T.
Dick is survived by two daughters, Sue Kathryn Hamff (Bill) and Carol DeLayne Shoulders (Bob), and one son, Richard Hickman Flournoy (Cristy), 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and his best friend, Judy Fields.
The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM following a one-hour visitation at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Burial at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
