

Reverend Vincent Turner (US Army, Retired), a native of LaGrange, GA and resident of Helena, Alabama, son of the late Katie Ruth Turner Dowell and Wilbur Thorton, transitioned peacefully from this Earth to Glory on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the age of 55.
His precious memories will be forever cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Sandra M. Turner and his beloved children, Sierra R. Turner of Helena, Alabama,Vincent Turner Jr., of Jonesboro, AK, and Micheal B. Turner of Atlanta, GA; three sisters,
Ida (Rick) Trigger of Atlanta, GA, Susan Dowell and Serbrena (Lonzie) Hamilton both of LaGrange, GA; four brothers; Joe (Toni) Dowell, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Tony Turner of Saginaw, MI, Kalvix (Sonya) Thornton, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Kelcey (Methany) Thorton of Clarksville, GA; His stepfather, Joe Dowell of LaGrange, GA. Entrusting in-laws, Mabel Berry of LaGrange, GA and Clarence (Bertha) Berry of Chattanooga, TN; five brothers-in-law, Clarence Berry, Jr., Bobby L. Berry, Darrell Berry, Michael Berry, and Dennis L. Berry all of LaGrange, GA.
Reverend Turner is also survived by his special “daughter in Christ”, Montray Smith and special “granddaughter in Christ” Grace Baldwin both of Helena, AL.
He leaves pleasant memories for his three uncles, Frank Turner, Johnny Turner, and Thomas Turner all of Detroit, MI and many other relatives and special friends including American Legion, Post 131, Disabled American Veteran, Chapter 28, Blue Star Salute Foundation, Support Committee for the Alabama National Cemetery, National Order of Trench Rats, United States Army Recruiters and his Mount Pleasant Church family.

The viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Helena, AL. The Service of Celebration will begin at 12 noon that same day at the church, and the committal service will be at 2:45 p.m. that day at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
