

Dr. Yarbrough's family will visit with friends at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, Alabama, on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 2-3 p.m., followed by A Celebration of Life Service at 3 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.

Dr. Yarbrough earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University. He practiced internal medicine for 40 years with Simon-Williamson Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama.
Other than the practice of medicine, Dr. Yarbrough enjoyed time with his wife Betty and family, boating, and traveling the country in their RV. He also loved to sing in the church choir, most recently at Bay Harbour Church in League City.
Dr. Yarbrough was predeceased by his parents, Walter Murray Yarbrough II and Sarah Orman Yarbrough of Decatur, Alabama, and one son, Charles Kent Yarbrough of Cumming, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, the former Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Nelson of Newport, Tennessee; five children, Sara Kurlansik (Stuart) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Walter Murray Yarbrough IV (Janet) of Houston, Texas, David Yarbrough (Rene) of Youngsville, Louisiana, Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Simon (Jack) of League City, Texas, and Andrew Yarbrough (Wendy) of Dothan, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Terry Yarbrough of Cumming, Georgia; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by one sister, Avlona Yarbrough Taylor (Douglas) of Boulder, Colorado; three nieces; and loving cousins across the country.
