Wayne M. “Pete” Ellison passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 85 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Son to the late Clarence and Lillian Ellison, of Pelham, Alabama he was born on May 19, 1933 in Chilton County. The family moved to the Pelham area when he was young, where he resided until his death. He is survived by devoted wife of 68 years, Edna Lucille “Cill” Ellison, daughters Beverly Swanger (Terry), Paula Ellison; grandchildren Kara Marchman (Alan), Andrea Mashburn (Jim), Matthew Ellison (Laci) and Jacob Ellison; great grandchildren; Nicolas Morris, Wyatt Morris, Ian Hester, Riley Marchman and Maxwell Ellison; sister June Harris; special friends Olivia Hammons and Duane Motes, as well as countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. He is preceded in death by sons Douglas and Mickey Ellison (Kim).
Pete worked for U.S. Steel in Birmingham until his retirement and is remembered fondly as a respected businessman and member of the Pelham community. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Most days he could be found where he was the happiest, outside, tending to his garden and land. He will be remembered as a kind, caring, giving and wise man that touched the lives of many. He will be dearly missed.
His family and friends will gather Monday, December 31, 2018 at 10:30am at Southern Heritage Funeral Home to celebrate his life and grieve his loss. Burial will follow at the Pelham Cemetery.
