

Wayne was born in the Rock Creek community, located in Western Jefferson County, January 19, 1942 to Lilla Mae Handley Richardson and Huston Loyd Richardson. He professed Christ at the young age of nine and was baptized at his beloved Union Hill Baptist Church the same year.
He attended Concord Elementary, graduated from Hueytown High School in 1960, and received his B.S. Degree in Secondary Education with a major in math and chemistry from The University of Alabama. He later received his Masters and A.A. from The University of Montevallo. He taught math at Hueytown High School from 1965-1975, and for the remainder of his 36 year career, he was a Supervisor of Attendance and Discipline for the Jefferson County School System. He was a long-standing member of AEA and NEA-Retired.
Mr. Richardson, while at The University of Alabama, was a proud member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
While at Union Hill Baptist, Wayne was an active participant in various youth ministries and taught the Young Married Sunday School class for many years. He was currently a member of Pelham First Baptist Church and the Saved By Grace Sunday School class. While his health allowed, he was active in the Celebration Choir of First Baptist Pelham and Union Hill Baptist Adult Choir.
Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife of 32 years Margaret Bauer Richardson, his mother Lilla Mae Glass, his brother Charles M. Todd, his two daughters Julia R. Shirley (Barry) and Beth R. Patrick (Frank), seven grandchildren Huston, Rachel, and Kathleen Shirley; Yeadon, Amelia, Colin, and Emma Patrick. He is also survived by his brother-in-law John W. Bauer, Jr. (Patti) and a host of family and friends.
He was predeceased by his father Huston Loyd Richardson who gave his life for his country as a U.S. Marine in Okinawa during WWII, his brother Rex A. Todd, and his stepfather Charles D. Todd.
Services will be conducted by Southern Heritage, 475 Cahaba Road, Pelham, AL 35124 on Friday, June 30, 2017 with interment in a mausoleum on the site. Visitation will begin at 9am with service at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial monetary donations to The First Baptist Church of Pelham, 2867 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, Alabama 35124, Attention Adult Music Ministry of the Celebration Choir in the name of H. Wayne Richardson.
For the family, his memory and kindness will be eternal. A special thank you from the family to his caregivers, nurses, and professionals at Chandler Health Care and New Beacon Hospice.
