William Martin Clem, Jr., age 76, passed away at home on November 14, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born May 30, 1942 in Birmingham, AL, son of William Martin Clem Sr. and Margaret Duke Clem, and graduated from Ramsey High School before attending the University of Alabama where he was was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, ROTC and graduated with a BA in 1965. He had an early career in radio and television (WAPI, TV-WVTM, Ch. 13) and from 1967 - 71 he served as First Lieutenant in the US Air Force Communication Services Division (Biloxi, MS and Minot, ND). Upon return to Birmingham he began a long and distinguished career as a real estate broker which continued until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Starr Segrest Clem, daughters Kelly Clem Burke (Matt) and Paige Clem, grandsons Jack Burke and Alex Segler, brother James Calvin "JC" Clem and sisters Sudie (Susan) Milam and Margaret Ann Witthoff. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 30th, from 10 - 11 am, immediately followed by a service and reception at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. In memoriam donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
