William "Billy" Lawson Ingram

In 1978, he graduated from the Shades Valley Resource Learning Center (now, the Jefferson Co. International Baccalaureate School). As a child of the Space Age, Billy was fascinated by flight. In 1982, he graduated from the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Campus with a B.S. in Aeronautical Science. In 1983, he married Carolyn (née Howe) Ingram in a wedding so beautiful that remains part of family lore.

From 1983 – 1989, he worked for Builders Transport Inc., and he rose through the ranks from dispatcher to Director of Internal Operations. From 1989 – 1991, he worked for Pegasus Message Corporation as President and Chief Operating Officer. From 1992 – 2001, he served as Executive Vice President for the Alabama Policy Institute, and donated most of his salary back to the organization. In 2001, he went to work for National Physicians Center as an Executive Consultant.

By far, his proudest accomplishment was raising his three boys, Brantley, Grayson, and Stone. He enjoyed taking them hunting, skeet shooting, and boating on Smith Lake. Billy had a playful side, and loved to tease his family. He also was a trusted confidant of his friends and unafraid to give them tough advice. He had an adventurous spirit and liked the challenge of new hobbies.

Billy also had a strong faith, and he was a charter member of Riverchase Church of Christ. He leaves his family full of love, faith, and with heavy hearts. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Judy Ingram. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol Ingram; his beloved boys, William Brantley Ingram, Grayson Mitchell Ingram, and Stonewall Jackson Ingram; his treasured sister, Pamela McCullough (Robert); and many nieces and nephews.

His family is grateful for the care of Dr. Tom Lewis and the staff of the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at Grandview Medical Center. The memorial service will take place Sunday February 7, at Riverchase Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. with service to follow. Masking and social distancing will be practiced. The funeral will also be live-streamed and access will be provided upon request. In lieu of flowers you may donate to Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund, Rainbow Omega or Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona campus.
