William Franklin Vale Jr.

William Vale, known affectionately as Bill, passed away on June 22, 2024. Bill lived a life filled with love, dedication to his work and an unwavering commitment to family. His sense of humor and his love for his family and for all animals was unmatched.

Bill was a devoted husband and soulmate of 35 years to his wife, Elaine Vale. He is preceded in death by his beloved Grandfather, William Soloman Nance, his father, William Franklin Vale, Sr, and his stepson, Kevin Thomas McGowan. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his mother, Jeanette Rose Vale; his sister, Rhonda Rhenae Vale-Burthold (Pete); his brothers Roy Vale, and Greg Vale (Chong Min). He also leaves behind his stepdaughters: Susan Hoffman, Mary McGowan, Maureen McGowan, and Sandy McGowan Lovell and 8 grandchildren, 4 great-granddaughters and 3 nieces.

A patriot, Bill served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. After leaving the military, he continued his training and entered a 37-year career in Fire Protection systems in which he held numerous industry certifications. Bill was an extremely knowledgeable and helpful individual. His knowledge, perseverance and determination were admired.

Bill was a leader for his family. His sense of humor, skilled sarcasm, choice of music and unique directness made being around him fun and interesting. He had a calm, steadfast and reasonable view of the world. His patience was as unmatched as was his love for animals, specifically his dog, Max. Visiting pets found his lap a welcome place to rest. Birds and stray cats found his yard a welcome and safe place. Bill’s calm demeanor, loving personality and his sense of humor are greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, Bill has requested donations to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital or directly to his wife, Elaine Vale. Bill will be laid to rest on August 8th at 9:00 AM at the Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at Lakehills Church, 5262 Alabama 70, Calera, AL 35040.
