

Bennie Ray Carter, born May 12, 1947 in Pell City, Alabama to Will and Sephonia Louise Carter, who preceded him in death along with his devoted wife, Patricia Carter, four brothers, four sisters, one son. He departed his life on June 14, 2026.
He served in the United States Army as a prominent soldier and doing his duty to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He earned the medal of honor and purple heart. He returned home and worked and retired from Ford Motor Company in Detroit Michigan.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Dorothy and Cynthia Carter of Pell City, AL; one brother, Timothy Wayne Carter of Pell City, AL; two sons, Brian Johnson of Pell City, AL and Clarence Edward Carter of Detroit Michigan; six grandchildren, Amor Johnson, Briyeah Johnson, Clarence Carter Jr., Martinez Carter, Martinay Carter and Jordyn Carter; and four great grandchildren, Jayli Johnson, Ca'lani Carter, Ca'liyah and Caydyn Carter. Bennie is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home, 2219 2nd Ave North, Pell City, AL 35125 on June 19, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
