

Born to Alfred Grissom and Minnie Jane Yates, Mona lived a long and fulfilling life, surrounded by love and family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and her life was defined by her deep Christian faith. Mona was a faithful member of Lister Memorial Baptist Church, where she found great joy in worship and service to others.
Mona was known for her loving, caring, and generous nature. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, warm smile, and giving heart. Her love for flowers brought beauty to her home and her spirit, reflecting her appreciation for the simple, yet profound, joys of life.
She is survived by her son, Paul Jennings (Tonya); daughter-in-law, Jan Jennings; and her cherished grandchildren, Bobby Williams, Faith Ann Williams, Christopher Jennings (Erin), Scott Jennings (Samantha), Jana Mullinax, Alan Jennings (Kimberly), Amy Kandaswami (Mike), Tyler Townsend (Jenni), and Dalton Townsend (Emily). She also leaves behind a legacy of 17 great-grandchildren: Daniel Williams, Emily Williams, Joseph Jennings, Jason Gable, Xander Jennings, Judah Jennings, Lillian Jennings, Mackenzie Jennings, Beverly Grace, Kaleb Mullinax, Kiley Mullinax, Kaylan Jennings, Evan Kandaswami, Noah Kandaswami, Logan Kandaswami, Beatrice Townsend, and Logan Mullinax. Mona is also survived by her loving brother, LV Yates.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lamar Jennings; son, Larry Jennings; daughter, Barbara Williams (Bobby); her parents, Alfred Grissom and Minnie Jane Yates; two sisters, Lilye Gay Noel and Cleo Sprayberry; and five brothers, Hoyt, Thomas, Alford, Milton, and Eddie Lee Yates.
Mona lived her life with grace and dignity, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was a woman full of life, always eager to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. Her faith in God and her love for her family and church were the cornerstones of her life, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness.
A celebration of her life will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home Pell City on February 23, 2025 at 2 PM CST. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lister Memorial Baptist Church, Hospice or the American Cancer Society in Dora’s memory.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
