Dot Wood

Dot loved and supported her Pell City and surrounding communities.

She served two terms as District 3 Councilwoman for the City of Pell City. She was a member of several clubs and organizations, such as, the Pell City Business and Professional Women, Pell City Rotary Club, Pell City Planning and Zoning committee, and St. Clair County Realtor Association. She was also involved in Children’s place purse and passion YWCA. She was a Moody and Pell City chamber member, Certified municipal official. She loved and supported the Pell City Senior Center.

Dot was Successful Real Estate Appraiser and Appraisal business owner. She served two terms as the first woman to be appointed to the Alabama Real Estate Appraisal board. She was a Member of Alabama Homebuilder Association and enjoyed her time as a home builder.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Mike F Wood; and her parents, Doris Rilla Strickland Harwell and T.R. Harwell.

Dot is survived by her two brothers, Tom Harwell (Marcelle) and Ted Harwell; nieces and nephew, Marlyn Jones (Frankie), Cathy Clayton (Jeff), Tanya Reyer (Patrick) and Timothy Harwell.

A memorial Services for Dot and Michael will be Saturday, June 20th at Kilgroe Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with visitation starting at 11am.

In Lieu of flowers contribution in Dot’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
