I came across this as I was searching for some other information. I have been familiar with Whatley Alabama as we here in SC have wondered if there is relation. I find some interesting parallels here with the family, as in I lost my dad Michael "Mickey" Whatley last year, he was also a community leader. My Brother, Tim Whatley retired as a Lt. Col in the air force and obviously, my dad also had a daughter named Leah (me). I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Talking about him with others will bring comfort, especially others that love him too. We do have the faith and hope that we will be reunited again one day, and we will! We also can take comfort in a passage of scripture (Heb. 12) that encourages us to go on and run our race because we are surrounded by a "cloud of witnesses" that are cheering us on! G-d bless your family as you continue in your father's legacy and bringing honor to his memory.

We were so sorry to hear of Dick's passing.  He was a wonderful man and truly had his heart in any project he got involved in and always did a great  job. He was a true Pell Citian and loved this little community.  Dick Whatley will be missed by many.  We are sorry, Charles and Mary Anne Robinson

Moot, Lea and Boom, 
Poot was like a father to me.  He and Moot where there for me when I really needed to feel safe and to be loved.   I will miss him but know he is in a wonderful place.

I remember Mr. Whatley as always having a friendly smile and hello at church each Sunday when I sat behind him.  He will definitely be missed at church as well as in this community.

Leah, Your dad was such a gentle and caring man.  He always wanted to help with any project I was involved in.  He knew the greatest reward was to give unselfishly and he has great rewards in store for him.  I know you will greatly miss him and he will be greatly missed in our community. Evelyn, Leah and family.  I am so sorry for your loss but rejoice at Heaven's gain.  I feel honored to have known Dick Whatley.  I never saw him that he wasn't smiling and always gave me a big hug.  My Sunday was complete if I got a hug from Curtis Capps and Dick Whatley.  What a gentleman he was.  I was honored to call him a friend.  He truly blessed my life.
