

Janet Crawford Arthur of Pell City, age 83, passed away November 16, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, W. Lewis Arthur and her parents Corley and Edna Harvey Crawford. Janet is survived by her children: Pat Anderson and her husband, Bill; Doris Campbell and her husband, Greg; Michael Campbell and his wife, Sherry; Alan Campbell and his wife, Stephanie; Karen Moore and her husband, John. Her sister, June Keen, survives her as do her grandchildren; Jeannie Anderson (Marshall North), Jay Campbell (Katie Monfortte), Carolina Campbell, Lauren and Anna Campbell, and Jacob, Kate and Jack Moore and nieces and nephew Kristin (Justin), Brian (Lori), and Stephanie (Nick).
Janet earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a master’s degree in counseling from UAB. Janet taught school for a number of years, sold real estate, and ended her career as a social worker, retiring from St. Clair County DHR in 2014. Janet was a dedicated member of St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church for greater than 40 years serving on various committees, but the alter guild combined her talent for floral arrangements with a commitment to her faith.
Janet was a contented, gentle soul who loved her family, friends, and time spent on Logan Martin Lake. She was a steady, generous lady who was loved by many. Her kind and loving spirit will be carried forward by all who knew her.
On Friday, November 28, the family will receive friends at 1:00pm at St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church with a memorial service beginning at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church.
