Jerry Ray Hart

Jerry Ray Hart, 85, of Pell City, AL (formerly Birmingham, AL) passed away May 24th, 2025. He graduated from Tarrant High School and held two full time jobs for 30 years as a Birmingham Fire Fighter and one of the first medical lab couriers in Birmingham to support his family. He was awarded Fireman of Year in 1985. He loved his family and was a very hard working man. He enjoyed so many things in life, being with and talking about his family and sharing his amazing and frightening stories and experiences about the fire department. He also enjoyed fishing, refinishing antiques and working in his yard.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Pauline Hanson Moody and Milton Moody and Grady C. Hart. He is also preceded by his former wife Betty Jean Gipson Hart, his brothers Jackie Hart and Perry Moody, daughter in law Teresa Hart and grandson Ryan Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Lee Hart and his children, Cindy Hart Bili (Tony), Ricky Hart (Jan), Cary Hart, Belinda Gowins (Tony), Jon Knight (Karen) and Mandi Hart Tufangollari (Ali). His grandchildren Garrett Gowins (Karly), Alli Gowins Medina (Edgar), Ethan Hart (Rachel), Rebecca Hart Winson (Scot), Christopher Hart (Amie), Chrystal Champion (Matt), Vann Lantrip, Cortney Williams, Cady Hart (Nick Bradford), Jon Christian Knight, Dekota Knight, Eren Tufanogullari and Caitlen Hopson (Andrew), and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Grady C Hart, II (Gayle) and his sister Margie Moody James ( Randall).

His Memorial Service will be Friday, May 30, 2025 at Pell City Library. Visitation is from 1:00 to 2:00 with Service to follow.
