Melvin was my father-in-law.
The first time I really got to know him was when Kathy and I went camping with him one summer in Panama City, Florida.
He was so full of life and such a loving person.
We all went snorkeling together in the Gulf and enjoyed a nice meal along with a beer or two together at a local beach side bar.
Apparently, he could sense how much I was in love with Kathy.
That was when he told me how glad he was that his daughter had found a guy like me to settle down with.
Having this true American Hero give his blessing to our marriage was a tremendous honor that I will cherish forever.
Kathy and I will always love him and we’re going to miss him every day until we rejoin with him at the great family reunion in heaven.
God bless JiJi for taking such good care of him, for such a long time.
It couldn’t have been easy, but she was able to make it look easy.
His passing is a huge loss to all who knew him.
