Michael was born in Munich, Germany where his father was serving in the Army. He spent his younger years growing up in Michigan, moving to California at the age of 20 and residing there until he and his family relocated to Alabama in 1999.
Michael was a talented craftsman and had his own home improvement business for many years. In 2008, at age 44, he totally changed paths and followed a life-long dream, joining the Birmingham Police Department, and dusted other candidates half his age. He later joined the Talladega Police force, was quickly promoted to detective, then Magistrate for Talladega County, and continued to work until he could not due to his health.
Michael leaves to mourn his best friend, soulmate and the love of his life, Stacy Kirkner, of Alpine, his parents, David and Joan Rauch of Pelham; his beloved sons, David and Ryan Rauch of Hoover, and their Aunt,Rosalie Deichsel,of Elizabeth, Colorado, whom Michael helped raise during her formative years; his sister, Sheryl Rauch North of Pelham; his nephew, Christian North of Pelham and niece, Harper North of Trussville. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for Stacy’s care and devotion every step of the way during his illness.
Michael loved the outdoors! Please consider planting something beautiful at your own home so if you ever become ill you too will find comfort in God’s artwork.
While he has left us here and we miss him beyond measure, we are assured by God that we’ll be together again.
A Celebration of Life will follow in the coming months.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kilgroefh.com for the Rauch family.
