She was born on March 10, 1933 in Pell City to the late Horace and Pauline Patterson . Mildred graduated from Pell City High School May of 1952.
She married the late Stanley Earl Lee on August 9, 1953. Left to honor and remember her are her four children: Bonita “Bonnie” (Steven) Milstead of Panama City, FL; Ricky (Levis) Lee of Orange Beach, AL; Barbara (Mike) Darrah of Cropwell; and Laura (Roy –deceased) Searcy of Pell City; 10 grandchildren; Kayla Darrah Calhoun; Jason Whitten; Chris Whitten; Hannah Searcy; Allison Milstead Mills; Mark Milstead; Mathew Lee; Stephen Lee; Nick Smith and Michelle Rassa; and 11 great grandchildren.
Mildred retired after 22 years of service at United Chair Factory in Leeds. She spent her last years relishing her time in her favorite spot – her front porch over looking a lovely hillside and admiring the flowers and the birds that she loved. Mildred relished her role as Mamaw to her “down the hill” grandbabies and if one of them wasn’t in her lap then Maggie her fur baby was. And dare we mention how much, in days past, Mildred loved to make and parade around her strawberry shortcake! She had developed quite the sweet tooth in her final years – just ask Barbara! – but dear Millie strictly denied that she was totally enamored of chocolate ice cream. All who loved her dearly will never forget her slightly bashful manner, that tad of stubbornness and her sweet smile.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, August 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Valley Hill Memorial Gardens in Pell City.
Memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.kilgroefh.com
