

Richard Milton “Donut” Nixon, 64, of Pell City, AL passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday November 13, 2025. He was born on Janury 27, 1961, in Pell City, AL to Margaret Morgan and Aubrey “Dill” Nixon.
He was a graduate of Pell City High School. Following high school, he was part of the Teacher in Space program at NASA in Huntsville, AL. He was an assistant golf professional for many years at Grayson Valley Country Club in Trussville, AL. Another one of his passions turned profession was cooking. He owned and operated the Cropwell Grill and later Glory Days in Pell City. In addition to the restaurants, he also provided catering services to the staff of the Talladega Super Speedway for many years as well as the cast and crew during the filming of the movie Talladega Nights.
He married Nancy (Wood) in 1998 and together they had a daughter Allison Morgan “Allie” Nixon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and “Dill” Nixon, Brothers Everette Nixon, Danny Nixon and Bruce Nixon.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Allie, brother Aubrey “Nick” Nixon, and several neices, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City, AL, from12:00-2:00 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2025 to reminisce and honor the life of Richard.
