Greg was employed by American Airline for 28 years and was the National Treasurer of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants. Prior to his tenure as National Treasurer, he served with distinction as a member of the APFA Executive Committee, Budget Committee, and Board of Directors. Throughout his career at American, which began in 1987, he was based at Boston, New York, and Miami. He was held in the highest esteem by his peers and professional associates who will forever remember his infectious smile and generous spirit. This is evidenced by the actions of the APFA Board of Directors at their annual meeting on March 9, 2016 naming the Treasurer’s Conference Room at APFA Headquarters the Greg Gunter Memorial Conference Room.
Greg faced pancreatic cancer with courage, determination, and an unwavering positive attitude and was supported in his fight by his family and many friends. Over one-hundred volunteers participated in two different walks raising over $10,000 for pancreatic cancer research – one in Boston, MA and one in Dallas, TX.
Over the past eight months social media has been bombarded with so many expressions of love and concern. Prayers have been lifted up in homes, churches, and cathedrals around the world. Greg’s faith and family relationships were strengthened through this battle. One thing that remained constant and will be remembered by the many friends and associates who knew him is his loving spirit and contagious smile that lit up his face and the world around him.
