Robert Buckner Watson

Robert Buckner “Bob” Watson died on February 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel Beasley Watson and Herbert Wyatt Preston Watson, his brother, Commander Wyatt Preston “Petie” Watson, his sister, Ethel Teague Watson Barnes, and his son, Preston Earl Watson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Patsy Ingram Watson, his children, Robert B. Watson, Jr. (Allison Newton) of Birmingham, Alabama, John W. Rea (Sonja) of Pell City, Alabama, and Jennifer Rea Moses (Shea) of Birmingham, Alabama. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Elisabeth Marie Rea, Emily Grace Rea, John William Rea, Jr., Evelyn Joy Rea, Eleanor Jane Rea, Kathryn Rea Moses, and Julianne Margaret Moses. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Ann P. Watson, of Denton, Texas, and Sarah Ingram Stewart (Glover), Margaret Ingram Bearden (Lawrence), Mary Jim Campbell (Don), and Ann Ingram Arnett (Don), of Pell City, Alabama; nephews, Dr. Harry McGwinn (Mac) Barnes, III (Terri), Lee An (Megan), Tommy Stewart (Tammy), James Bearden (Jennifer), Richard Davis, and Wayne Smith (Jan); nieces, Isabel Barnes Barnes (Frank), Ethel Watson Barnes, Ruth Pope (John), and Jamie Truitt (Chuck), and numerous extended family members. Bob was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, and was a graduate of Huntingdon College. He spent the last 27 years of his life in Pell City, Alabama, where he was involved in many aspects of the community as a father, a successful small-business owner, and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Bob loved people and never met a stranger. He was a friend to many and a great encourager to all. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 1, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018, at New Hope Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. with burial to follow at New Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Ministry of New Hope Baptist Church, 75 Cogswell Avenue, Pell City, Alabama 35125. Condolences may be offered to the Watson family online at Kilgroe Funeral Home – Pell City will direct the service

Could not possibly list the wonderful memories here in Montgomery or at the beach. Bob had a heart of gold and all who knew him felt the same. He loved his family, especially his boys. Our love and prayers go out to Patsy and "Little Bob" and to Mac, Isabel and Ethel.
