Arthur "Artie" Stewart

Arthur “Lefty” Stewart, 84, of Penn Yan, NY passed away on August 17, 2012 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Artie’s funeral service to follow at 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Artie was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 6, 1928, the son of the late Charles & Zaida Stewart. He retired from NYPD after 20 years as a police officer and also put in 20 years at Keuka College. Artie was quite the handyman and loved woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Himmanen Stewart; brother Charles; children, Artie Stewart and Tim (Sheryl) Stewart; granddaughter, Amanda Jaramillo; great grandson, Mason Jaramillo. Artie was predeceased by his sister Jessie Vilonen and granddaughter Sarah.
