
Butch was born in Penn Yan, NY on August 1st, 1945, the son of the late Donald E. and Virginia "Ginger" (Linkous) Campney. He was a 1961 graduate of Penn Yan Academy and had earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Tri State University in Indiana. Butch served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He had worked at the old Hill Top Inn in Penn Yan and retired as a rural postal carrier from the Penn Yan Post Office. Butch was a member of the Penn Yan Elks Lodge 1722 and was active with the Elk’s ‘Just Say No’ program. He was also a member of the Penn Yan Moose Club, the Johnson-Costello American Legion, and a former member of the Ellsworth Hose Company of the Penn Yan Fire Dept.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Maureen "Marnie" Campney; sisters, Dianne (Norm) Hansen, Carol (Lee) Sackett, and Terry Callison; sisters-in-law, Gretchen Galliher, Ann (Kevin) Brennan, Kathy Galliher, Tina Galliher, and Mary (Steve) Wheeler; brother-in-law, Tom (MaryAnn) Galliher; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews . In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Christine and William Galliher.
Friends and family may call from 11am to 1pm on Wednesday, July 12th at the Townsend Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY 14527. Services with the Penn Yan Elks Lodge, Rev. Jeff Childs, and Military Honors will be held following at the funeral home at 1pm.
