

Doris Hunt, 87, of Bluff Point, New York passed away peacefully on December 25, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born November 27, 1925, the daughter of Eugene and Hanny Tannaz Herter. She spent her childhood in Haworth, New Jersey and graduated from Tenafly High School in 1943 and Keuka College in 1947. On June 21, 1947 she married F. Philip Hunt of Branchport, New York. She spent much of her adult life in the Corning, New York and Keuka Lake areas. She was active in the Irish Wolfhound Club of America and was a proud breeder of national award winning Irish Wolfhounds. She was trained as a first responder with the Branchport-Keuka Park Fire Department. She was also an active volunteer with the Yates County Office of Aging and Keuka College alumni. She was especially known for her caring of others and touched many lives.
She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years on March 11, 2004 and by her parents and her brothers Charles and Ralph. She is survived by her five children: Janet (Rodgers) Williams of Bluff Point NY, Arthur (Joyce) Hunt of Branchport NY, Eugene (Christine) Hunt of Bluff Point NY, Claire (Edwin) Cutshall of Hillsboro VA and David (Gail) Hunt of Waterford VA; her thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sybille Herter of Fort Worth TX and close friend John B. Wilder of Branchport NY.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Branchport-Keuka Park Fire Department, 3686 New York 54A, Branchport NY 14418, or to Keuka College in Keuka Park NY 14478. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Sunday December 30, 2012 at Norton Chapel, Keuka College officiated by The Reverends Philip H. Kasey and Judy White, reception to follow.
