
Gordon was born in Penn Yan, NY on October 14th, 1960, the son of Morris Nielsen and Viorene (McElwee) Sterling. He was a graduate of Penn Yan Academy and the Rochester Tool & Dye School. Gordon had been employed with Corning Glass for 15 years and Coach & Equipment in Penn Yan for 7 years.
Gordon is survived by his daughter, Sierra; mother, Viorene Sterling; his father, Morris Nielsen; his beloved cat, Shadow; sisters Gale (Jeff) Miller and Gloria Szarewicz; niece, Valerie Miller; nephews, Brian Miller and Brett Szarewicz; step-brothers and step sisters, Lois (John) Howard, step sister-in-law Ellen VanKeuren, Darryl (Libby) Sterling, Dave (Vicky) Sterling, Steve (Cheryl) Sterling, Gary Sterling, Patti (Gene) Walotka, and Eric Sterling; many aunts, uncles, cousins Ray, Jon, Mary, Martha, Mark, Kerry, Bill, Ken, Linda, Scott, Mark, and Joni. Gordon was predeceased by his step father, Richard Sterling and his step mother, Mary Nielsen; his step brothers, Rick Sterling and Rich VanKeuren; and step sister in law, Michelle Sterling.
Friends and family may call from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday, October 13th at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, corner of Main and Chapel St., Penn Yan, NY where a memorial service will follow at 2pm with the Rev. Tom Wunder. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gordon’s memory to Camp Good Days, 643 West Lake Rd., Branchport, NY 14418.
