

Peacefully, surrounded by family, Helen passed away at home on November 27, 2015. Predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen; son, Michael; sister, Jean (Bill) Koval, brother-in-law Patrick Sullivan, sister-in-law Janice Sullivan. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Bob, and daughters: Maureen (Ralph) Ebert, Colleen Sullivan, and Karen (John) Griffin. She leaves grandchildren: Jeremy (Erin) Ebert, Jennifer Ebert, Erin (Nathanial) Michniacki, Matt (Adrienne) Nolan, Kevin (Stefanie) Nolan, Sarah (Jake) Minns, Anna Sullivan and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Leo (Mary) Dodd, sister-in-law Claudia Sullivan, brother-in-law Jack Sullivan, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Helen graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing School, Class of 1944. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for ten years prior to her marriage to Bob in 1955. She worked one year at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan, NY, prior to the birth of their first child. She spent her life raising five children and being a nurse to family, friends and neighbors. She was an active member of Dundee’s St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, including the Alter & Rosary Society, Parrish Council, and Counsel of Churches.
Helen volunteered time in the community as a 4-H leader, served on various committees involving the ARC of Yates County, and volunteered time at the Dundee Library and Dundee Food Pantry. She and Bob were active in Yates County square dancing for several years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yates County ARC, Ontario-Yates Hospice or the Dundee / Clifton Springs Ambulance / Fire Department(s).
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 1st from 3-6 at Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel in Penn Yan. A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, December 2nd at 10:00a.m. at St. Michael's church in Penn Yan.
