

Lyle was born August 13, 1920 on Bell Road in Potter. The son of Ralph and Anna Dinehart Corey, Lyle graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1939 and was a talented football and baseball player. Lyle joined the Navy in 1944, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was a machinist mate on the minesweeper. The Lucky 43 in the Pacific Theater. Lyle was an avid hunter and loved his beagles. He played in the Penn Yan Slo Pitch league well into his 60’s. Lyle was an honorable and dignified man.
Lyle is survived by Joan (Ron) Jones, Stephen (Arlene) Corey, Thomas (Rosemary) Sisson, Debra (William) Craig, Ralph Jack, Jill, Doug and Fred Corey; the two sons of his heart – Stephen Rago and Mount “John” McKinley and the grandsons he helped raise – Chad and Brian Gray; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren who loved him dearly; his sister Ann (Ray) Murray and his brother Donald (Dona) Corey and many nieces, nephews and cousins
Lyle was predeceased by his wife, Mae, his son Lyle Jr., his granddaughter, Colleen, an infant son, his sister, Velma, his brother, Wilfred and his best bud and brother-in-law, Pete Chambers
A graveside service with full military honors will be held August 3 at 11:00 at Lakeview Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Lyle’s life at the Penn Yan American Legion at 12:30
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Lyle’s name can be made to the Keuka Comfort Care Home, Ontario-Yates Hospice or Mercy Flight.
