

Robert was born in Ithaca, NY on February 27th, 1927, the son of the late Emmett and Ava (Buckley) Crane. He served in the US Army during WWII from 1945-1946. He worked as a machine operator for Rotor Salt for 18 years and Michael Sterns for 28 years. Robert was a member of the American Legion for 63 years, the Masonic Lodge F&AM 108, and the NRA for 30 years. He was also a member of the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Penn Yan. Robert was an avid collector of model airplanes, loved woodworking, shopping, planting flowers, the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Robert loved all animals and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels daily.
Robert is survived by his cousins, Jean Breuer of Penn Yan, Audrey Lusk of Maryland; 2nd cousins, Daniel (Sherry) Crane & their son Daniel Crane II of California, Valerie Crane (Paul) Dorfman of California, Roland Charles Crane II of Washington, and Bob (Judy) Tears of Pennsylvania; caregiver, Ann Marie (James) Loree; dear friends Linda and Shane Davis and Stewart Maxium; and his beloved cat, Ming. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ann Marie Crane on December 29th, 2011.
At Robert’s request there will be no prior calling hours, his funeral service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, February 20, 2013 at 11am, with the Rev. David Smith Grant officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Dresden, NY.
