Suzanne Michelle Bouvier Lamphier, age 88, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on June 27, 2018. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Sue’s life at 1:00 PM on July 8, 2018 at Norton Chapel, Keuka Park, NY. Sue was born June 2, 1930, to Jules and Angela Bouvier in New York City, New York. She was a 1947 graduate of South Side High School in Rockville Center, Long Island and a 1951 graduate of Keuka College. She completed her Master’s degree at Elmira College. On August 27, 1950, Sue married Clif Lamphier from Penn Yan, NY. They were married for nearly 67 years. Sue taught kindergarten and then first grade in the Penn Yan Elementary School from 1968 – 1988. She was a member of the New York State Retired Techers Association, a retired life member of the National Education Association of New York and a member of the Yates County Retired Teachers Association. Sue was a past member of the Penn Yan Woman’s Club and had been a Cub Scout den leader. She volunteered for many years for Christmas for the Needy, Food for the Needy, and Meals on Wheels. In retirement Sue and Clif enjoyed spending winters in Myrtle Beach, and summers traveling to Europe. Above all, Sue enjoyed spending time with her family. Sue is survived by her children, Angela (Gary) Bergh of Hewitt, NJ, Jeffrey (Scarlet) Lamphier of Middlesex, NY, and Alison (Ken) Reed of Lewiston, MI; 7 grandchildren, Erik (Gett) Bergh, Matthew (Melissa) Bergh, Shawn (Kallie) Lamphier, Megan (Matthew) Colton, Olivia Lamphier, Jake Reed, and Mitchel Reed; 10 great-grandchildren, Logan, Hattie, and Henry Bergh; Summer, Weston, Dollie, and August Lamphier; Braydon Polce, Lilah and Gage Colton; brother, Robert (Leslie) Bouvier; sister-in-law, Trudy (Gene) Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews. Sue was predeceased by her husband Clif in May 2017; her son Stephen Lamphier; her parents Jules and Angela Bouvier; her step-mother, Genevieve Bouvier; and her sister and brother-in-law Joan and Howard Weissleader. In lieu of flowers, Sue requested that memorial contributions be made to the Keuka Fund at 141 Central Avenue, Keuka Park, NY 14478; Keuka Comfort Care at PO Box 107, Penn Yan, NY 14527; or a charity of your choice.
