Thelma Best-Smith

Family and friends may call on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5:30-6:30pm at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY. A Memorial Service for Thelma will take place at the funeral home at 6:30pm.

Thelma was born December 30, 1953 in Canandaigua, NY to the late Bonnie Larios & Rodney “Smitty” Smith. She loved spending time with her family the most. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She couldn’t wait to get together with family for the holidays. She loved cardinals, the color red and enjoyed cooking, gardening and crafts. She could make nothing into something with her creative mind. She enjoyed doing craft shows and going to yard sales. Thelma had a big heart and will be loved and missed forever!

She is survived by her children, Dorothy Griffin (Tom Miller), Ronald (Shelly) Sanderson, Suellyn Sanderson (Shannon Sobolewski); grandchildren, Robert (Felicia) Griffin, Nicholas Griffin (Jessica Vantassal), Anthony (Alison) Sprague, Aaron Hodge (Leah Perry), Megalita Torres (Brett Wichtman), Zack, Bret, Kylie and Brendan Miller, Janel Sackett, David Sobolewski, Dylan Heitmann, and Colin Clark who she shared a special relationship with; great grandchildren, Caden Griffin, Lilian Sprague; 8 step children; numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Beverly (Ed) Hough, Clarence “John” (Gloria) Smith, Melody Langdon (David Hammond), Louis Rivera (Tammy Pettinato), and very special sister-in-law Susan Smith; numerous nieces & nephews. Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Howard Best.
