

William was born on November 16, 1929 on Long Island; the son of the late William and Ida (Gasser) Volz. He retired from NYSE&G after over 20 years of service. He and his late wife Nellie were avid square dancers and members of the Friendship Squares. They also enjoyed walking and traveling around the country. Bill was most interested in railroading and enjoyed building model trains. He had an extensive train layout in his basement in Penn Yan in which he spent countless hours with his grandchildren. His interests also including reading, which he spent many hours doing.
Bill is survived by his children, Judith (James) Willing, Edward (Patricia Griffiths) Volz, Barbara (Cornelius Jr.) Jensen, and William (Dorothy) Volz; grandchildren, Amie Volz of NC, Clifford (Katie) Volz of MD, Shelby (Tim) Alderman of Penn Yan, Shane Willing of Mt. Morris, Courtney Volz of Branchport, Tesia Moore of VA, Myles Volz of Keuka Park, Emma Willing of MA, Jacob Moore of Branchport, and several cousins; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Delilah, and Elliot; In addition to his parents Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Nellie S. Volz on November 5, 2013.
Family & Friends may call on Monday, April 3rd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Church in Prattsburgh, N.Y. on Tuesday, April 4th at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
